PRODUCTION'S IDEAS ARE LOUDER THAN WORDS
(excerpt)
December 8, 1995, Ivan Lincoln, Deseret News

Like emigrating to a foreign country, protesting taxes, scrambling up the corporate ladder, defending the American flag or building your dream home where an endangered species has squatting rights . . . establishing an alternative theater troupe can be risky.

The 11-member cast of Tobin Atkinson's highly experimental and innovative company was just barely outnumbered by a pathetically small audience opening nightfor a short but theatrically invigorating program of a dozen vignettes exploring the importance of freedom through movement, mime, dance - and very little dialogue.

Atkinson's approach to this rarely addressed topic is quite simple: Images and gestures can be louder than mere words.

Louder Than Words won't give you wild comedy or Broadway songs, but it will give you plenty to think about.   But only if you make the effort to see it.
