TUNE IN RADIO MACBETH FOR THEATER
OF THE IMAGINATION

Tobin Atkinson, arguably one of our most ingenious theater artists, has given this classic a fascinating new spin.
Radio Network PBTC comes on the air with an audio performance of "Macbeth." The audience is quickly drawn into an imaginative maelstrom of bubbling cauldrons, witches' prophecies, violent murders and lusty ambition.
There are no intermissions - just some humorous radio commercials between each of the five acts. It only takes a few moments before you settle into what is, essentially, a first-class soap opera.
Even a handful of costumed actors come into the parlor for the tale's climactic swordplay and Lady Macbeth's fatal descent into madness - it's still dark and chilling. The figures are more like shadows in your mind rather than suddenly "watching" a play. Though they're mostly out of sight, the talented cast turns "Macbeth" into a Hitchcockian psychological thriller.
